Regardless of what else I'm doing in life, I'm an artist committed to answering the call creativity. I was just a child when I took an interest in activities that fostered my creative talents, as well as my love of animals and nature. These became stable elements in a life that was filled with constant change. I received an education in interior design but soon returned to school, graduating magna cum laude with a BA in communications. Best when multi-tasking, I currently balance my artistic endeavors with projects in event management, photography, writing, and other creative pursuits.

WHY DID YOU BECOME AN ARTIST? I picked up a paint brush in 2001, and a new sense of purpose was born. My first painting was on a 4x6 piece of card stock and I never looked back. Each painting proved to be a personal expression that created a need to reconnect with myself, my past, and my roots. This led me back to rural Nebraska, where I saw the beauty of the landscape for the first time. I began photographing rustic and weathered structures that seemed to stop time and tell a story. I soon developed an art process that incorporated my images into original mixed media paintings. This led to a desire to capture and create a growing database of artistic images, while continuing to create new works as a painter. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PAINTING STYLE? I would categorize myself as a contemporary artist who enjoys experimenting with unique mediums and combinations that evolve into extensions of my thoughts and experiences in the form of something earthy, weathered, and organic. Unless I'm acting on a new vision or idea, my paintings are purely an emotional release that most often involve layering combined with a reductive process.
