Happy Mother's Day

Whenever someone used to meet my mom, they would tell me how pretty she was. I believed the same about her but didn't truly appreciate her beauty until a few years ago when she shared a DVD she had received from a childhood friend. It contained a compilation of home movies that spanned several years... a remarkable piece of her history that I never knew existed. I've always enjoyed sifting through old photographs, but there was something magical about seeing her move, dance, laugh... come to life. I was mesmerized. Moved to tears, I was so affected by the footage that I went through it frame by frame, capturing stills to create my own personal keepsake. The collection of images will forever remain one of my most cherished mementos related to my family history.

What I saw when I studied these images was a young woman with natural beauty and an adventurous, carefree spirit. She radiated a flirtatious yet innocent aura that made me feel connected with her in a new and deeply personal way... These images were new to me and, for the first time, I saw myself in her smile. I continually feel thankful, honored, and blessed to have her for a mother.
